Parents: Summer to do list?
I feel like summer is coming, and FAST. I'm really excited to get bathing suits on children (even mine) and go back and swim at the cottage (lake). This is the first long been that we are not on vacation. I think with a few small trips to amusement parks and the cottage we will do fun activities that we do not normally do. I made a small (always unfinished) list of things I will try to do with them: 1. Picnic (park, beach, garden) 2. Have a pool party with a couple of friends of my daughters (BBQ dinner, make your own ice cream sundae) 3. Camping 4. I found a cool job I think I'll try with Children: All in add to the list of moms and dads?
We have been busy with activities, but also will do a lot of our own things. Here are some ideas. Have tournaments. It can be anything your family likes, Wii, unicycle, Monopoly, anecdotes. You could even do a weekly theme, and the champion must choose an activity. While you might make some elaborate things, do simple things as well. Look at the stars and learn the constellations, watch old home videos, organizing family photos in an album, catching fireflies, etc. Sometimes these are the most memorable. Look for the recipe / directions to make your own ice cream in a bag, we plan to do that much this summer (and it's a lesson in the great science of chemistry). You can do the pool party, and they could do their sundae on. While at the beach looking for shells, shark teeth, etc. When we go, my kids love to watch the crabs and other marine animals, we can find in the tidal pools. When we go to the park, we take a couple bags of groceries with us and spend a few minutes to collect garbage. Children actually enjoy doing is making in the park cleaner and prettier, and it a good way to teach community service and involvement, and the importance of being stewards of our world. Look for animals that live there, and talk about the danger the bin might pose to them. Looking for summer activities in your community, such as the reading program at the library. They offer incentives, and reading keep your children occupied while you are doing something. What about visiting a local petting zoo, Wildlife Center, an aquarium, etc.? Hike nature trail. Let them spend their property and have a garage sale, and use the money they win something fun. It will get rid of some clutter and give them pocket money. Rearrange their rooms and / or redecorate. Search stores children's recipe book more fun books for children in the recipe section. Make a project like building a fort or cabin in the trees. If this is not an option, try a birdhouse or something like that. In the past, we have built sundials, garden plants, etc. It could be a time to get a new pet. If a puppy or kitten is not an option, try alternatives such as a hermit crab, the turtles, betta fish, etc. They can be fun and educational.
