balloon rigging...st johns river?

i have been reading about using balloons as floats. my question is at what depth do i need to put a hook from the balloon.. and do i need a weight and where is the weight needed to be. right between the balloon and the hook.. i am not sure. there are alot of diagrams out on the web showing different ways to rig a balloon and hook. what do yall think. does it depend on the depths. i think that the place i am going will probably be 15-20 ft deep. or should i just use a big ol bobber????don't know never done this. i used them in salt but never fresh. thanks and good fishin

I used balloon floats and if you us them go with the heavy duty ones,

Rig- I used a #12 or 14 snap awivel and clipped the snap to the rim of the opening then on my main line I added a slip stop with a bead and stopper.This allows you to vary the depth of you bait.Most gereral uses we did not use a weight and allow thebaitfish to free swim.

You allow just enough depth for the bait to reach cover area's that you are fishing ie: piers,lillies,trees....!
