Macaroni and cheese with bread crumbs?
I wanted to make some macaroni and cheese in slow cooker and I wanted to use the recipe from my mom. Once I had the macaroni and cheese with breadcrumbs and liked the texture. I wondered if it was okay to crown my mac and cheese in slow cooker and get the same kind of taste? I want to cook in slow cooker, because it seems easier and I can tote easier.
The crumbs would probably to soak in a pot, because the whole issue is to keep the moisture of the dish. If you want to make macaroni and cheese in a casserole, I cook the crumbs separately on a cookie sheet to make them crispy and then just sprinkle on top before serving. You can put the crumbs in a plastic bag if you need take them somewhere, then you can always wait until right before serving the dish as you sprinkle them on.
