Ducane Cooking
My gas grill will not sear meet. It just does not get hot enough. ideas?
No matter what I have tried, I cannot get the grill hot enough to sear a steak. Preheating does not do it. It is an older Ducane, but the regulator tests OK and I have replaced the burners. Is this typical for this make (Ducane), as it is wonderful for rotisserie and chicken and foods that cook over a lower heat. Or is it broken and there is something (else) I need to replace? Or is this just the way it is with gas grills and I just need to go back to charcoal?
Charcoal rocks, particularly hardwood charcoal. There are gas grills with high enough heat to truly sear steaks, but they still won't have that good taste. The only reason to favor gas is convenience.
