Charcoal Kettle

the proper way to set up a barbecue kettle?
I just bought a barbecue kettle, I'm confused about how to place the coals, in the blurb it says fuel-place "in a bowl of lower fuel and then the page he mentions onther coal bin" Then What what? So do I put the coals in the bottom and charcoal on the board or what?
Could you post a link to which one you bought or brand and model #?
